ABDO SAYEGH RODRIGUEZ

I'm originally from Venezuela. A dancer, choreographer, arts administrator and GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® trainer.

I studied dance at the Escuela Ballet-Arte and the Escuela de Ballet Teresa Carreño, dancing later professionally for the Ballet Nacional de Caracas under the direction of Vicente Nebrada and the Ballet Nuevo Mundo de Caracas under the direction of Zhandra Rodríguez. In 1997, I moved to the USA to dance for Minnesota Dance Theatre, where I became Rehearsal Director and later Associate Artistic Director. In 2012, I joined TU Dance as Managing Director and later promoted Executive Director. I was awarded the McKnight Foundation's Artist Fellowship for Dancers (2007) and the Ordway Center 2015 Education Award for Excellence in Community Engagement. I currently serve as a Trustee for Dance/USA and DanceMN. I hold a bachelor degree in Administration from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas, Venezuela.

My interest in GYROTONIC® started years ago while I was recovering from an injury. Since then, I've been taking GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® classes, and recently decided to start my journey towards getting certified. I've completed the GYROTONIC® Pre-Training Course with Wendy Anderson and the GYROTONIC® Foundation Course with master trainer Jeurgen Bamberger. In April 2021, I completed the GYROTONIC® final certification.
